The Perfect Way to Carve a Pumpkin

Visit Courtland Hearth for all of your pumpkin carving needs!

Halloween is just around the corner and there’s no better way to get into the holiday spirit then picking a pumpkin and taking it home to carve with family and friends.  Many pumpkin patches near you are still filled with the ripe orange fruit ready for picking. Once you’ve lined your steps or kitchen with the pumpkins of your choosing, head over the Courtland Hearth and Hardware for all of your pumpkin carving needs. Don’t settle for carving your pumpkin the old-fashioned way.

New Ways To Carve Your Pumpkin

  1. Sketch your subject onto your pumpkin using a pencil. Then carve out just the outer skin using an X-acto knife or your Dremel tool. Do not cut all the way through. Cut and remove only the pumpkin skin portion of your image.
  2. Next, cut a 5 – 6″ round hole in the bottom of your pumpkin, providing access to the inside of your pumpkin.
  3. Thoroughly clean the inside of your pumpkin by scrapping out all the seeds.
  4. To highlight your work, use a bright LED light bulb inside the pumpkin with a light bulb plug socket and a heavy-duty extension cord. LED Bulbs work best because they do not get as hot as conventional incandescent light bulbs. The image will light up through the skinned portion of the pumpkin.

Other than the pumpkin, everything you need to complete this fun project is available at Courtland Hearth & Hardware.  Stop in and see us for suggestions and advice on your Halloween pumpkin project.
